Many recreational leagues have cropped up throughout the DC metropolitan area. Many are linked to churches and community centers. Be sure to stop by your local venue to sign up for a league.

The Washington Wizards are DC’s professional basketball team. Perhaps best known for becoming Michael Jordan’s home team after his return from retirement in the early 2000s, the Wizards are thrilling to watch. Also, their home games are conveniently located at the Verizon Center in the heart of Washington DC, right near the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro stop on the Red Line. DC Hockey: For the sports fanatic, the Washington Capitals are perhaps the best kept secret in Washington DC. If you can’t afford to go to a game, there are practices open to the public. You can see all your favorite players free of charge! They hold their practices on the top floor of the Ballston Mall, at Kettler Capital’s IcePlex. You can check out the website  for their practice schedule.
