Valentine’s Day in DC

Whether you’ve got plans with that special someone, or are looking for something fun to do with friends, Valentine’s Day can be tough for someone living on a budget.  Here are some low-cost, creative picks for entertainment this Valentine’s Day.

The National Zoo: Don’t know what to get for your favorite animal lover this Valentine’s Day?  Why not Adopt a Species at the National Zoo? You can adopt the Red Panda to the African Lion, and anything in between. Not only does the low cost gift offer a chance to provide medical services and care for an animal, but it comes with a fantastic gift package including a stuffed animal, lollipop and information about the adopted species all shipped for free.

DC Dinner Cruises: While the cold may deter some, winter is one of the best times to go on a dinner cruise. With clear views of DC at night, and a heated cabin that includes dinner and dancing spaces, Odyssey Cruises offers 3 hour cruises that include entertainment and breathtaking views. While the price may seem steep, deals can be found by getting together a group of friends and booking at the same time to lower the per person price.

Sticky Fingers Bakery: Looking for a quick treat for yourself or a loved one? A quick jaunt from the Columbia Heights metro, Sticky Fingers Sweets and Eats has some of the most mouth-watering sweets in the district. With a recent renovation, Sticky Fingers is back and ready to satisfy your sweet tooth. Be sure to keep an eye out for them when they compete on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars in March!

The Melting Pot: Looking for a delicious dinner that’s fun as well? Why not try the DC location of the Melting Pot for some fondue. With a four course menu offering cheese and chocolate fondue, as well as some delicious entrée options, this centrally located restaurant has everything you could want on Valentine’s Day.
