Written by Lauren Goldberg, Coordinator, U.S. Programs

As Old Man Winter settles into DC, it’s time to deck the halls, pull out the long-johns, and pop in your favorite holiday movie to kick off the winter season. With the crisp, winter weather here to stay, the best way to keep warm and toasty is to enjoy a warm, comforting drink. Here are a few places to find specialty hot chocolates and warm beverages!

Warm-DrinkArtfully Chocolate & Gifts in Old Town Alexandria has an extensive hot chocolate menu. Each “diva” is carefully made with unique ingredients that make every drink special. Try a Rita Hayworth, a semi-sweet chocolate infused with clove, orange and caramel, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. Can’t decide which diva to devour? Get The Golden Girls Diva Sampler and try three delectable drinks.

Co Co. Sala in the heart of downtown DC offers a wide variety of chocolaty drinks as well as specialty desserts. Be sure to get a hot or frozen Co Co. with your favorite dessert. They have a white, pumpkin spice, and peanut butter among others. Can’t make a decision? Get a Hot Co Co. Trio Flight and choose your favorite three!

Tryst in the Adam’s Morgan area is a great place to spend an afternoon enjoying a warm drink. Whether you are curled up on one of its’ many couches with your favorite read or sitting by the window with a friend, Tryst is a great place to stay warm and sip on a comforting drink. Try the Chaippuccino, a blend of chai tea and espresso to add a little spice to your day. Order the Yared, steamed orange Juice w/lemons, limes & honey for a new take on a winter favorite.

No matter if you decide to try a Ginger Rogers at Artfully Chocolate & Gifts, a Chipotle Hot Co Co. at Co Co. Sala, or a Yared at Tryst, be sure to stay warm and enjoy the winter season.
