Eat and Enjoy- Georgetown

Written by Lauren Goldberg, U.S. Programs Coordinator

ImageGeorgetown, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, began as a port for commercial ventures due to its location on the Potomac River. The intricate C & O canal system was created in order to transfer goods to local businesses. While the canal is now inactive, it lines the base of this historic neighborhood and is a great place for joggers, bikers and tourists. Along the waterfront are historic row houses, cobblestone streets and beautiful gardens. Home to not only rich history but some of the best shopping and dining in the District, Georgetown should definitely be a neighborhood to check out while in Washington, DC.

Check out some of these historic sites in the area:

After your historical adventures stop by one of these neighborhood eateries for a fantastic meal:

Come prepared to shop at some of these upscale shops and unique boutiques that line the cobblestone sidewalks:

  • Lost Boys– A trendy men’s clothing store
  • AllSaints– Chic clothing and accessories for both men and women

Enjoy  Georgetown!
